It tasted so good....

This...

Plus this...

And this...

= YUM!!!

The best part? Knowing I grew those herbs myself! It was the simplest meal I could have ever thrown together. Kevin golfs after work on Tuesdays and I just didn't feel like cooking anything too complicated. I had the can of tomatoes in the cupboard (still too early for the tomatoes to be growing around here) and I always have fresh garlic on hand. But what really made it was that fresh basil and oregano! There is nothing better to cook with than fresh herbs. I will buy fresh herbs when it is not growing season, but there was something...special...about going out to my own little herb garden and snipping them right before adding them to my sauce. Then I added some freshly grated pecorino romano and about ten minutes later, there was
this!!!

Oh that looks yummy!! And very easy!! I live in an apartment so I can't grow my own herbs but I buy them whenever possible:)

OOH I just had a big bowl of pasta for dinner. Tortellini. Man, you forget about how pasta expands in your tummy after you eat so if you're already full... wait a few minutes and you're gonna pop! :)

I agree, there is nothing better than going outside and picking what you need to cook with.

So happy you are enjoying your gardening.

Looks stupendous. My husband grows basil and garlic- and me being half Italian and having converted him into being Italian, we could eat that every night of the week!

It is funny.... I did the same thing myself. I cut some basil (forgot the oregano!) and made myself pasta last night. I used a can of Italian crushed tomatoes, the basil and some fresh mozzarella. What a fab dish!

Looks soooo good - I gotta give that a try. I have tons of ripe tomatoes from my garden, just need garlic.

I need to try your sauce recipe too!

I swear it tastes so much better when you grow it yourself. I just ate a cucumber (from my garden) sandwich and I swear I've never had a cucumber so cool and refreshing before in all of my 28 years!

I need to use my basil - it has gotten so big and beautiful in the garden. I need to make pesto!

Thanks everyone!!!

Christa...do you have a balcony at your apartment? If it gets any sun you can grow herbs in pots! I grow my herbs in containers on my deck!

Nikki...you are so right! That bowl filled me right up!

Tams...I figured if I didn't save you any you would finally get your ass back out here for a visit and make me make more!

Tina...that best be a promise b/c you make the best desserts and I am always up for wine with my sistas!!!

Carma...My hubs is half-Italian, too. I am actually 100% Greek but people confuse me for Italian all the time!

WhisperingWriter & Alicia...Thank you!!! :-)

Terri...Terri, girl, great minds think alike!!!

Staci.....In all your 28 years MY ASS!!! Mwwaaahh!

YUM! Delicious! Sometimes the meals that are made up of just a few ingredients and not a lot of work, are the best! And fresh herbs really do add to it!
I would love to have some herbs someday, I just have a bad habit of killing them... :S

That looks soooo good! Some of my basil is almost ready. We have had tons of rain and my pots have been water logged.

Have a great weekend!
