It's almost July?!?

Holy crap!!! The 4th of July is just a few days away!!! And that means it is almost time for Alex and Russ' annual 4th of July extravaganza (which, at the rate we are going, will probably be rained on, but whateva!). The 4th of July bash at their house is always THE party of the year. Lenny, Russ' Dad (he is in the black cap in the first pic) is President of the Hilltop Steakhouse (very well-known around here).  They bring in the ginormous grills and it is like a day long meatfest. Crazy! But there are a lot of guys at the party and they love it! Plus they have every side dish you can imagine. And desserts...oh my the desserts! And lots and lots and LOTS of booze!!! :-) The booze helps since some of my brother's friends wives and their kids are obnoxious! But it really is a great day. These are friends we have had for years and years. Entire families are there. We have the music rockin'. We have games. The kids play. And at night, of course, there are (illegal in MA) fireworks! The best part: Alex and Russ live about a mile down the road from Kevin and me! It is perfect! Here are some pictures from last year. These give an idea of how much fun we have!

Doug, my Dad, Lenny, and Arthur. Doug's son Brian, my brother, and Lenny's son Russ have been friends forever. Arthur's daughter Jennie (who unfortunately lives in Chicago now and won't be at the party) is a friend of mine (Jennie's hubby Todd and my Kevin have become good friends, too!) This next picture is the wives/Moms...

Sheila (Doug's wife/Brian's Mom), Joann (Lenny's wife/Russ' Mom), my Mom, and Margo (Arthur's wife/Jennie's Mom). Yep, Jennie's Mom is another Margo. This is a big source of amusement with Jennie and I. All one of us has to say is "The Margos" and we both know what that means! OY!

Kevin...giving me his "I will smile this one more time but then put that damn camera away!" smirk! Love it!
Just a shot of the yard. That guy near the top kinda to the left is Kevin's cousin Regina's husband Bart. Did ya get that? And next to him in the blue Tshirt and white shorts is my brother. Last year a few of Kevin's cousins from Belgium were here visiting over the 4th and they stayed with us for three weeks! They had a blast at the party! They don't do stuff like that in Belgium (Belgians tend to be very, ummm, vanilla.)
A shot of the tent and some of the tables.  All the food tables are lined up in here, too. I wish I got a shot of the grills so you could get a sense of how big those suckers are! I will this year.

Alex's Mom Tony. She is a trip! She lives in NYC, but she spends months and months up here at a time helping out Alex and Russ with their son Andrew while the two of them work.

Kevin's cousin Regina from Belgium. Belgians love their booze!
(she really didn't drink all that...most likely I did...)

The annual poker game. That is my Dad in the glasses and the bald guy with the sunglasses on his head is my brother. He and my Dad LOVE poker!

Yep! Can't believe this year's party is only a few days away! I can't believe it has been a year since Kev's cousins were here. Can't believe 2009 is half over.

That means one thing.....AUTUMN is almost here!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, fun stuff!!! It looks like it really is the BEST party ever!

Are fireworks really illegal in the entire state? It varies by city here.

You know, I just LOVE coming to your blog. I do, I really, really do! :)

It looks like your 4th of July will be a gignormous blast! We don't usually do anything for the 4th of July anymore because I've become an old crone woman. Have to work the next day usually, so I end up sleeping through it all. But this year, the 4th is on a Saturday so I may be able to actually see some for real!

In Bothell, fireworks are illegal. However, where my house is... only on MY street... we can do fireworks. Because we are right on the line between two cities and a county. It's weird, because while we can do fireworks on my street... the next street over cannot because they're in the "illegal" zone. Whats that about?!

Oh My...how many times have I gone by those steers at the Hilltop, on my way to Boston. Now, that's a crowd I would like to get in with! You lucky girl, you. Enjoy, and par-tay! Hugs, Kathleen
