~* Senator Edward M. Kennedy, 1932 - 2009 *~

Today is a say day for the state of Massachusetts. Shortly after midnight, Senator Edward M. Kennedy, the patriarch of Massachusetts politics and one of the longest serving US Senators in history, lost his battle with brain cancer. I am not going to get in to a lot of politics on my blog because politics has a way of dividing people and causing hurt feelings, and that is not what my blog is about. But those that know me well know where I stand politically, and I am very saddened by this loss. Our state, and indeed our nation, lost a great patriot. The man had his faults, no doubt (name me one politician on either side that doesn't) but he is a man who devoted his life to fighting for those less fortunate than himself. And more importantly, the Kennedy's embodied a great family spirit, their bonds of love so strong, an inspiration to all.

He leaves a great legacy, one that will endure...

Rest in peace, Senator Kennedy

How sad to see the last male child of that family pass away. He was a great Senator, and the father figure for his many children, nieces, and nephews. He will be so very missed. Unknown said...: It is very sad....I just watched from my apartment window the precession drive down towards the JFK Library...I can see the library from my apartment...with binoculars of course...it was very weird to actually be able to SEE the motorcade knowing that he is in it:(; 8/27/2009 3:57 PM
