ZENTANGLES!!!
What are zentangles? Well, simply put it is art created from repetitive patterns. That is how I look at it. To me it is drawing and doodling and coloring and shading....the "tangles." And relaxing...the "zen." And it is fun!
This is how it is defined by the creators of this art form:
Zentangle is an easy to learn method of creating beautiful images from repetitive patterns. It is a fascinating new art form that is fun and relaxing. It increases focus and creativity. Zentangle provides artistic satisfaction and an increased sense of personal well being. Zentangle is enjoyed by a wide range of skills and ages and is used in many fields of interest.
However it is defined, it is definitely my new obsession!!! Despite the fact that I spent the majority of this day inside the house, de-Christmasing, cleaning up, watching the snow fall, and watching TV with Kevin and Bailey, I did venture out for a bit this morning to Absolutely Everything with Mom (our most favorite store!!!) to take a Zentangles class.
I created these two small pieces and now I can't get enough of it. I am starting to fill up a sketchbook with Zentangles!!!
I can easily fit this new art obsession in to my life because literally all I need is paper, pencil, and pen! That is it! You can Zentangle anywhere, anytime! And ANYONE can do it! You do NOT need to know how to draw, or even doodle. And I love that I can incorporate this in to other things I do, like creating backgrounds for a scrapbook page, minibooks, cards, etc!

Uhm, I wouldn't have a clue how to make one of those. I can bare write a legible check!☺
Very cool!! I want to watch you do it...LOL Maybe one of these football sunday's we can get together and doodle while the guys watch football!
How neat! I love the way both of your creations look. I've never, ever heard of this art form before, but I am definitely going to check it out now! I love the idea of being able to complete a piece with minimal materials and the ability to work on and finish it in any setting, any time.
Hope you and your Mom had fun! :)
xoxo.
Wow! Is there a template you use - or just draw your own free-form repetitive patterns? It makes for some interesting pieces!
These are so interesting! Please show us how they are done. Thank you for visiting my blog and entering my give-back. LOVE meeting new bloggers! --Connie
