Thinking spring and gardens...

For those of you that were following my blog last year, you probably remember (though most likely tried to block out) the many many many garden posts I mad you sit through from May to September-ish. I couldn't help it. I became one of those people. The kind I swore I would never be. You know the type....nonstop talk about their gardens and soil and fertilizer and veggies and flowers. They wear silly rubber shoes and floppy hats and have dirt under their fingernails. They hand out tomatoes to every family member, friend, co-worker, acquaintance, or stranger they meet. Yeah, I became one of those people....though my "silly rubber shoes" are Crocs (don't be hatin'), and my "floppy hat" is my pink Patriots baseball cap, and I do wear gardening gloves. I did give out tomatoes, though not to any strangers (Kevin would've freaked).

So, folks, that brings us to this year. What can I say? I am hooked! I freakin *LOVE* gardening! And I can't wait for spring to do it again! For real! I am already planning out what we will plant and how. And I scheming on how we can expand our garden a bit! We have a pretty good sized yard but we are surrounded by lots of big, old trees so we have a very small area that gets sun all day.

See? It's small. But don't let the size fool you. We got a lot out of it!

And in that picture above you can't even see the crazy tomato plants!!!

Still, I want more! I want it bigger! I am never satisfied with the same old same old! Grow and change and expand, that's what I say!!!

Now lest you think this is just my obsession and "poor" Kevin has to deal with it, think again! He really enjoyed it last year, and got just as excited as me when things started growing, and even more excited when we could pick them and eat them! And lest you think it was just because last year it was all fresh and new, think again, again!

Last week we were at Christmas Tree Shop . I *big puffy heart* Christmas Tree Shop. If you don't have one near you, you are missing out. Seriously. Anyhooo, Kevin, as always, wanders away from me (like a little kid...). No worries...I am quite content to fill my cart! When I did finally go off to look for him I turn a corner, and there he is, deeply engrossed in a display. Oh, what was this display, you ask? Well, I'll tell you. It was a big huge display of SEED PACKETS! Like, for gardening.

Yeah. No worries here.

We are both also super excited because this year we also know what not to do. For example, we should not realize the critter fencing is upside down after we have completely enclosed the entire garden and fought to get the wire fencing hooked on to the metal posts. And we should not wait to stake and support the tomatoes after they have already started to get too big. And there are a whole bunch of other "nots" that we will not do this year.

What will we do this year?
We will continue to have fun!
We will continue to learn as we go!
We will still get excited at each and every little thing that grows!
We will get excited when we make something with veggies we grew!
We will try to grow some new stuff!
We will expand a bit!
We will still be those people!!!

And I will continue to buy super-cute garden gloves whenever I see them, just because!

And I will reveal that not only did I purchase each of these for me, I got a second set for YOU!!!
Yep, these were just too cute to pass up. So cute that I had to buy two of each because you all rock and you are all fantabulous and I want you to have super-cute garden gloves, too!

Just leave a comment on this post and I will draw a winner on Sunday! For an extra chance to win, leave a separate comment if you are a follower or you become a public follower!

I heart the Christmas Tree Shop too. My sister got me hooked.

I wish that I could garden. We live in an apartment with not a bit of soil to be had.

You don't have to put me in the running for the gloves since I can't garden. I just wanted to say HELLO and leave you a comment.

Have a GREAT weekend!!!

Cute gloves!

My garden is already to go and it is going to be even bigger this year! Hoowah!

Right now I have beet, radishes, carrots and onions in the ground. I'm planting my peppers (indoors) sometime this week. Can't wait!

Ah those gloves are super cute! Love your blog, and I am a new follower.

My garden patch is still under about two feet of snow, and it has been fun reading about your garden.

I can't wait until I can get my hands into the dirt! I need spring to come sooo badly! I don't usually start anything from seeds...I buy the plants. Can't wait to take pictures of that!

I'm going to try my hand at gardening this year. I've tried in the past, but I grow more weeds than vegetables. I'm looking forward to your gardening posts. How about some tips?

Hi Kristen!

I, too, am so ready for Spring! We're going to try square foot gardening this. Our gardening space is even tinier than yours. Can't wait to see pictures and posts of your garden this year!

Well I love to garden too - but flower gardens mostly. I do container garden with lettuce and tomatoes and peppers. I loved you posts from last year. Count me in my friend!

I am totally ready for spring! I had my first ever garden last year, too and have a list of about 100 "don't"s to follow this year. Mine include, don't let the little peat pots on the kitchen table with seedlings just started get completely dried up. I'm excited to try a pumpkin this year (squash was the main thing that grew last year for me).

Those gloves are super cute :) I garden in a big floppy straw hat with a huge purple bow... I'm probably adding 20 years to my age with that, but it's ok, I like it :)

The green dotted gloves? Have them and love them! I wish I could say that they've helped me become a better gardener, but not so much. Your dedication totally impresses me. I always think that this is going to be the year I get serious about gardening, but it never happens. I had a little flower garden years ago, and I loved it, but all my other gardening attempts since have been a big fail. Best of luck - I can't wait to see your progression!
