~* Christos Anesti *~

Wishing you a most Happy & Blessed Easter!!!

Christos Anesti ek nekron, (Christ is risen from the dead)
Thanato thanaton patisas, (Trampling down death by death)
Ke ti en tsi mnimasin, (And to those in the tombs)
Zoin charisa a menos. (He has given life)
(This is a traditional hymn sung in the Greek Orthodox Church at midnight Easter service.)

Tsoureki
(traditional Greek Easter bread)
I baked these yesterday using my YiaYia's recipe!

We are getting ready to head to Mom and Dad's shortly. As soon as I can get my butt motivated! I spent the entire day and well in to the evening yesterday in my kitchen cooking and baking all the traditional Greek foods my YiaYia always made!

This year, Orthodox Easter and western Easter fall on the same day, so it will be a low-key celebration with just our small family today. But here are a couple links to some past Easter posts. Click here to read about Orthodox Easter (originally posted in 2009), and click here and here to see pictures from 2009 when the two Easters were on different days....then we have a big party because all of our friends want to come over, too!

Cristos Anesti! I'm half Greek myself, and am having a full-out Greek dinner tonight with family (lamb, pastitso, spanakopita, kourambiethes... mmm!) Enjoy your day! :) ♥
