Anyway, for those of you on Facebook you will know what this is. There is a challenge of sorts going around to post a note featuring 25 random things about oneself. So for my friends that are also on Facebook, you have already read this, but I thought it would make a good blog post. so without further adieu...
1. I have lived my entire life in Peabody. I went from my parent's home, to Kevin's and my first home, then to our second home. All three places are just a few miles from each other. When I was younger I always thought the first thing I would do is get out of Peabody...now I can't imagine not being here.
2. I am afraid of the dark. Completely, irrationally, totally afraid of the dark...and my brother makes fun of me for it all. the. time.
3. I am also afraid of basements (including my own) and attics. And my brother makes fun of me for it all. the. time.
4. Two years ago I had a cornea transplant done in my right eye. I have a condition in both eyes called keratoconus, where my corneas are misshapen causing my vision to become distorted. My right eye got so bad they I needed my cornea replaced. My new cornea came from a 35 year old woman that passed away. I thank her in my prayers everyday for my sight. I still have to wear super strong glasses, but with my glasses on I see 20/20!
5. Speaking of prayers, I have become much more spiritual as I have gotten older. Although I am not now, nor probably ever will be, a big church goer, my faith is important to me.
6. I love 80's music...love love love it! And classic rock, too. I love it so much that I am embarassingly unaware of much of the newer music that is out there. And I still maintain my memberships to the Duran Duran and U2 fan clubs to this day so I can have access to the best seats for their shows!
7. I am not really in to any TV shows that are on now. I was quite in to Grey's Anatomy for a few seasons but lost interest. There really aren't any shows that I feel I have to see on a regular basis....but I always seem to have the TV on. I like the background noise.
8. Speaking of the TV as background noise...I always have to have it on to fall asleep. Drives Kevin insane! This all started around the time I had my cornea surgery.
9. Last year we bought a Wii. I have no idea why. We don't have kids and neither of us have ever been big video game fans. Now we love the thing! And we can't imagine not having it to play!
10. I love to travel but just don't get to do it as much as I used to. I miss it. I have been fortunate to have been to some great places.
11. I think my parents are THE coolest parents EVER!!! And I am so damn lucky to be their daughter! And I think my husband is THE coolest guy EVER!!! And I am so damn lucky to be his wife!!!
12. We have a five year old nephew who is just the best kid!!! We love to spoil him (then send him home to my brother!) ;-) I can't even remember what life was like before he came along.
13. I am addicted to papercrafts: scrapbooking, rubber stamping, mixed media, collage, etc.. and I have a fairly large room in my home dedicated to this addiction. And it is busting out at the seams with stuff. I could probably open a small store with all the stuff I have hoarded over the years.
14. I resisted joining Facebook for a long time. My friend Melissa finally convinced me to join. And I am so glad I did because I have reconnected with so many old friends!
15. I like my job I have now and I have some great co-workers but nothing will ever compare to my previous job and being able to work with Mary, Manuela, and Susan every day. Hell, even Steve! :-)
16. My dog is the best person I know!!!!!!!
17. I love New England! Love it! Even with all it's crazy weather, I love it! Mostly because I am addicted to fall and let's face it, nobody does fall like New England!
18. I have a bachelors of science degree in psychology from Suffolk University in Boston. Total waste of time. I have never done a thing with that degree (I became a travel agent instead). But I would never trade my time at Suffolk for anything! I made some of my best friends in my life there and I had a blast! (Do NOT take this to mean that I think getting a degree is a waste of time...I just wasted my degree).
19. I seriously think I missed my calling. I should definitely have been doing something for a living that involved me being creative. And I think it should have been interior design. I love love love decorating and I could pore over paint chips and fabric samples for hours on end.
20. Several years ago I came across these cute country cookbooks from a company called Gooseberry Patch. Normally this would so not be my thing but the books were cute and the recipes were easy and sounded good. So I checked out their website. And there was a message board there. And I found a bunch of women who loved art and crafts and decorating and holidays, just like me! The message board didn't last long...but we did! Many years later we have our own site where we keep in touch in daily, many of us live near each other and see each other often, and those of us that don't still see each other and talk all the time. They are some of the best friends I have and my life has been so enriched with them in it!
21. I love to read and used to read several books a week. Now most of my reading is magazines because it requires less of a commitment.
22. I love to write. I always have. When I was younger I used to write silly stories. I have kept journals for as long as I can remember and I fill them quite frequently. Even in school, I actually used to enjoy writing papers!
23. I can't carry a tune to save my life...but I love to sing. Loud.
24. I love the New England Patriots! I love football. But usually I am not too interested in watching unless I am watching the Patriots. So according to my brother that means I am really not a football fan, i am just a Patriots fan. Have I mentioned that my brother loves to torture me?!
25. Right now I drive a minivan. And I am getting pretty tired of it. But it is paid for and it really has been a good car. Some backstory: on a vacation with friends we rented one and we liked how it handled. At the time we still planned on having kids, so when it came time for a new car we figured we should just go for the minivan. Well, the having kids thing didn't work out for us. And now we are stuck with a minivan. And now I miss driving an SUV....
