Happy Mail Day and other randomness...

LoVe me some happy mail! I always get excited when I get the latest issues of my favorite magazines in the mail (check out my "20 Happy Things" post below), and Country Living is one of my all-time favorites! The June issue arrived today and upon a quick glance at the table of contents it looks to be another fabulous issue! And the other happy mail I got is the first bunch of the many many many prints of my photos that I ordered other day. Lots of crafty projects will be happening with those photos! Can't wait!

It is just a really good day when there is something in the mail other than bills and crap. A new magazine, photos, maybe a card from a friend, a fun catalog....that is happy mail.

Speaking of cards....it just plain sucks that the simple act of mailing a card or even a short handwritten letter is dying out due to our reliance on technology and our "gotta have it NOW" mentality. There is nothing like putting pen to paper and brightening the day of someone you love. For me, writing by hand is something I will never give up. Never. I still send out cards and letters....not as often as I should or as I would like to, but I still do it. I write all my lists by hand. And I will always, always journal by hand. My handwritten journals are some of my most prized possessions. Even though I have this blog and Facebook and things like that, NOTHING will ever replace the joy I feel when writing my thoughts on paper...pen to paper.

And speaking of words, I love books, too. Always have. And I used to be a voracious reader, easily finishing two or three books in a week. Now...not so much. Not that I don't love reading, I just find that my attention span is not what it used to be. So I read magazines way more than books nowadays. Less of a time commitment. But there is something about the warmer weather and longer days that draws me back to books. It is around this time of year I start compiling a list of books I want to read. I already had a few on my list, and now thanks to a fabulous new-to-me blog that I have been reading, The Young and Relentless, I have more I want to add to my list. So far, I am interested in reading:
I really have no illusions that I will actually get through all of these books any time soon, but they are on the list! And this is just a partial list. There are so many more I want to read that I can't even think of right now. It is obvious I am a big chick lit fan...I will admit I prefer lighter reading, some humor, love and even lust, crazy situations. But I do like "deeper" reads, too, sometimes.  Any suggestions for books you love would be welcomed!!!

So that is my bit of Wednesday randomness. It is no wonder I don't read as many books as I used to. It is clear from this post my thoughts are all over the place!!!

Oh! Just one more quick note...if you notice on my sidebar there is a cute picture (if I do say so myself) of me and the hubs. Well, my sweet guy is planning on starting a new blog all about sports...because he lives and breathes sports. More specific, Boston sports. Because, well, he lives and breathes Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, and Bruins. Anyhoo, the blog is all set up just waiting for his first post which should be coming any day now. It may even be tonight but the hubs, unlike me, is being Mr. Responsible and is doing yard work! So, if you could spread the word and give the guy a little bloggy love I would be ever so appreciative!

Many of those books are on my list too! and I love sending out cards and letters to people! I requested my family hand write letters to my children for their birthday's that they will have to read when they are older.....I think they will be so special to them!

Love your list! Think of a book chapter like a magazine... only one "magazine" a day! I think you will do great with those books.

Bob doesn't read blogs (not even mine!) but I will let him know there is one on sports out there, even though he is more of a CARDS fan!

I am so there with you on card writing!

I agree about the handwritten notes and such. I am trying to be better with my writing...always room for improvement!!

Many of your books are on my list too. Only thing about reading is once I start, forget anything else until I am done!! I don't get anything done while reading!!!
