Someone stop us!!!

~ Bailey hanging out in the car, 5.30.09. ~

Yes, our crazy little dog likes to sit in the car when he is with us while we do yard work.

~~~~~~~~~
Even Bailey is laughing at us!!! We went to Home Depot today, for the sole purpose of getting fencing to put around our little garden. Just fencing.
Famous last words...
~ Our garden, after fencing and with our little rock border we added, 5.30.09 ~
Oh, we got fencing...and another basil plant, and a dill plant, and a jalapeno pepper plant, and a freakin watermelon plant! And more pots. And some geraniums. And stakes. Oh yeah, and sandpaper...but we actually did need that.
~ The little watermelon plant, all tucked in next to his new friend, the pumpkin plant ~
(yes, I am a dork!)
~ Strawberries (that the damn birds ate!!!) and blueberries, 5.30.09 ~
(I am going to Joanns tomorrow for cheesecloth. My Mom warned me. She told me to get it. Someday I'll listen...)
And if Kevin hadn't been the one to come to his senses, because Lord knows I took leave of mine long ago, I know I could have come home with much more!
But now our little garden is all tucked in nice and secure from critters and such.
I just fear we are turning in to those people. Those garden people. I don't want to be one of those people that lives and breathes gardening, constantly with dirt under my nails and a perpetual farmers tan. But it is happening, isn't it? I want to enjoy the process, sure. But I don't want to be obnoxious about it. So I will still post updates here but I promise it won't be constant. And I vow to stay away from the garden centers...for a while...at least...
~ The updated herb garden, 5.30.09 ~
I just realized I didn't get a shot of the new pot of basil. Damn! It is a big one, too!
See? I am doing it. I am being one of those people.....
I even picked up these ridiculously cute recipe cards today at Michael's. They were only a buck! I had visions of writing down all the recipes I would make with my harvest....
(though I should probably pass them on to my friend Tina who will be harvesting enough to feed the entire state of Pennsylvania! Check it out!)
Oh, I am so one of those people.....
Thanks for gettin' in your 5 votes for today!! :D
Those basil plants are going to get huge. Do you like pesto? We plant a couple basil bushes each year and my husband loves to make pesto. We've found that BJ's has a great price on pine nuts.
You are going to have lots to harvest soon!
It was only a matter of time before you guys got the gardening bug!!! The real test will be next year...will Kevin sacrifice some of his beautiful lawn for a garden?? (less mowing ;))
Haha, I'm telling you, gardens now, chickens later;). LOL @ feeding the state of PA. I'll have to take some pics of Jacob, then you'll know why I need such a big garden. LOL. And yes, yes you are going to be one of "those" garden people because you see how much work it is and how proud you are of your work.
Bah! Wait until you start plucking big ole ripe maters - then you'll really be one of those people.
I agree with Tina - next year it'll be a full blown garden in the yard.
Chickie - what you need now is a small composter! You'll have the bestest garden ever! ('Nother trip to the HD)
You aren't officially one of those people until you set your garden pictures to music and post it on You Tube. LOL!
Everything looks GREAT!
