I am so happy it is August!!! To me (and some of my other demented friends...and you know who you are!!!) August is like pre-fall. I am so ready for fall. Didn't I say, back when I was whining about all the rain that we had, that once the nasty heat and humidity settled on us, I would be whining again and wishing for cooler temps? I was in Michael's today and it was fall all over the place. Pumpkins and mums and sunflowers and spicy candles and earthy colored ribbons and papers...and even some Halloween decorations! {{{sigh}}} I was in heaven!!! But I will stop rambling about fall now because, trust me, over the next few months I will be rambling about it a lot!!!
In other random Saturday first day of August news, we have been harvesting veggies!!! For a couple weeks now! LOTS of zucchini, jalapeno peppers, banana peppers, and strawberries! We have other peppers almost ready to pic, cucumbers that are just about ready, and TONS of tomatoes just about ready to ripen!!! I mean, seriously, we are gonna have tomatoes out the wazoo...and we only planted 4 types!!!!! This is so exciting!!!
Anyone have any good zucchini, pepper, and/or tomato recipes?
Here are a few pictures showing some of our bounty...
Kevin looooves jalapenos!!!
He eats them right off the vine!!!
We have been picking our zucchini when it gets to about this size. I don't like them when they get too large.
All of the strawberries we have picked have looked like this: big, vibrant red, juicy and sweet! I wish we planted more. Next year we will!
Tonight we are going to our friend Sue's 40th birthday party! Sue is also my hair stylist so that means I have to take some time getting ready! lol It should be a good time. He husband rented a hall. They are having a DJ with karaoke! I love me some karaoke...and I can't carry a tune to save my life!!! There will also be booze. Booze + me with a microphone = Kevin hiding under a table!!! :-)
So as I am thinking about my friend's 40th birthday party tonight, it has me also thinking, damn! We are all pushing 40! A few of my friends have already passed it. My husband turns 40 next month. I only have another year and a half to go. It sounds so cliche but time really does fly. It is just so surreal to me. I don't feel like I am almost 40. In fact I feel like I did in my 20's! I remember in my teens and 20's thinking 40 was sooo old! But it is so not!
While I have been playing around on the computer this afternoon I have been watching the movie Ocean's 13. I looove the Ocean's movies (11, 12, 13). You know, the ones with George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Matt Damon? I have to admit I have watched these movies far more times that I can count. I can recite a lot of the lines. There were a lot of other movies on that I could have watched this afternoon, including some I have never seen that I want to see. But when I see one of the Ocean's movies on I have to watch. There are a few other movies I love that I will watch over and over, too. I don't know. I guess it is the comfort in the familiar.
Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, I hope you are having a fabulous Saturday!

Those strawberries look SO good!! Its one of my favorite fruits! I love zucchini too...but I don't have any recipes for it..I usually just slice them up and steam them and add salt and pepper...now I am hungry! LOL
Happy August and Happy Fall Frenzy!
I decorated today then went to Starbucks and harassed the employees for a pumpkin spice frappe! I didn't get what I wanted but found out that they should be arriving around September 4th or so... I can't wait!
Then Dean and I went to the Hobby Lobby so I could drool all over the fall and Christmas stuff.... sigh...
I have lots of recipes for you...
Are those banana peppers hot or sweet? I have a great canning recipe that is easy and is to die for.
I had the most fantabulous Saturday!
I'd give my left nut to see you half drunk doing karaoke, and especially to see see Kev's reaction to that!!!!!
YAY for gardens!!! Chris just picked our first jalapeno today too, he was really excited about it. Next year we will have a full blown garden, and let me tell you that it is going to be pimped out! You name, I will "attempt" to grow it! I CAN'T wait!!!
Thank you for your kind words and prayers, it means a lot to me!

I love Fall too! And I will be 40 in 13 months!
We have a boatload of tomatoes, too. Idea for them: heat up some garlic and olive oil - dice up some tomatoes. Cook them slightly, add some fresh basil and then add some grated mozzarella cheese. Toss the mixture in with some spaghetti - delicious!!! and so quick and easy!
P.S. All you "under 40's" are making me feel like an old lady ;-)
Your fruits and veggies look AMAZING!
