Long time no blog...

Welcome 2010!
We have dealt with a bit of this white stuff...

...and bone-chilling cold, but that is January in New England!

So where have I been? Ummm, really I have been here. Just haven't had much going on that seemed worth writing about. I still don't...but I have missed blogging!

Actually, I do have lots on my mind, in the way of things I want to do and things I want to write about. There is something about January that makes me want to...do stuff. Or at least think about and plan the stuff I want to do.  So that is what I have been doing a lot of this first week of the New Year...thinking. Thinking, but not a lot of doing. After taking the week off from work between Christmas and New Years I had a bit of a tough time getting back in to a routine again. Work just seemed to be a bit crazy, too. That didn't help.

Are you all familiar with the concept of One Little Word? This is a concept I have followed for several years now. Some of my past words have been shine (2009), simplify (2008), and create (2007). I have usually done pretty well with living my word each year. Of course there is always room for improvement. This year I had a hard time choosing my word. There were actually two words that I kept going back to, and as I spent a few weeks going over and over these two words and trying to choose one, a third word made it's way in to the mix. Ultimately I decided....who says there is a rule that I have to pick just one word? There isn't! So I chose all three, one of which, ironically, is choices. My other two words for 2010 are energy and live. I love that all three of these words complement each other so well. I am not going to go in to too much detail about why I chose these words, but I will share a bit throughout the year how I feel I am doing with them. What about you? Have you chosen a word, or words or even a phrase, for the year?

I think I am going to try Project 365 this year! I have been thinking about this and thinking about it and thinking some more and now I think I am going to go for it. I do realize most people started this on January 1 ... and I spent so much time debating whether I would do it that January 1, and 2nd, and 3rd, and so on came and went! Honestly I wasn't sure if I would have the discipline to commit to taking a photo a day AND posting it. But then I realized that I am constantly taking pictures. I never leave the house without one of my cameras. I know the biggest challenge will be daily posting. But I am up for it. I feel like I can make it for the full 365 days, but I am also realistic, and I know me. There is the possibility that I could miss a day of posting here and there. That is OK. I can double or triple post if I have to. And, really, it is just posting a picture. I don't have to come up with any words. So it should be fairly easy. I will be starting a separate blog for this project and will post the link here when it is up. Oh! It will probably help if I let you know when the pictures will start. I plan to start this project on January 22, which is my 39th birthday, and will continue through to January 22, 2011. My fortieth birthday. It will be nice to complete such a big project on a milestone birthday!

So I guess that's all I got for now!

What a great idea, Kristen! You can do this..even if you just post the picture and no words. :)

Here's to 2010 being a fantastic year for you and yours.

I like your ideas and have begun to read some of the links you've provided! Project 365 may be a winner for me - a look back on my year and the end of the year...

I would love to see more of your photography, so I am looking forward to your new blog. I feel like I have stalled. I had all this energy for the New Year, and now I have stalled out. Time to refocus and move ahead. May I say, you do not look anywhere near 39. Must have good genes in your family, cause your Mom looks fantastic too.
Hugs, Kathleen

Hi, Kristen - I am the same way with January - gotta do stuff. I love the word concept and your words are excellent "choices". Mine is WAHM (here's the link if you want to read it: http://bit.ly/8ZZlLs)

p.s. Darren Rowse is brilliant. I hope you will check out his 31 Days ebook.
