Top O' The Mornin' To Ya!

Sooo wish I was drinking one of these right now instead of sitting at this desk!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!

Or, as we call it in Boston, the useless holiday that only city and state employees in Boston get to take off AND get paid for it......

St. Patrick's Day is a big deal in Boston. We have a HUGE Irish population, and Irish pride is everywhere. Even the Red Sox and Celtics get in to it. The Red Sox, though they are still in spring training, will don St. Patrick's Day ball caps. Even throughout the season you will see many a Sox fan at Fenway not wearing a blue or red Sox hat, but rather a green one.

The Celtics, whose colors are already green and white anyway, will wear a specially designed green and gold jersey between March 15 and 17.

Boston is also home to the longest running St. Patrick's Day parade in the US. It dates back to 1737. It is usually held the Sunday before St. Patrick's Day. This year, despite torrential rain and flooding, the parade marched on!!!

All day and well in to the night Guinness will be free flowing from every bar and tavern in the city. For those that feel a straight up Guinness just isn't enough, Irish Car Bomb will be the drink of choice!

Just what is this wonderful concoction, you ask? Pour a half-pint of Guinness and let it settle. Fill a shot glass with 1/2 oz Jameson on the bottom and a 1/2 oz of Bailey's Irish Cream on the top. Drop the shot glass in to the Guinness and chug!!!

(and my Irish friends wonder why we think they are crazy drunks!!!)

I went to college in Boston. St. Patrick's Day (week) was a lot more enjoyable then...

Still, this Greek girl is wearing her green today....even if I am stuck being a grown up and having to go to work and all.

Are you wearing (or drinking!) your green today?!?

Well, I'm not Irish, but I can get into the celebrating:) Do you decorate for the Holiday? I have a small basket that is St. Pat's, but I went straight to Easter this year!

Thanks for the well wishes and enjoy your day!

Besides Ireland, Boston is the place to be for St. Patty's!! :)
I'm not wearing green today - all tshirts and it is too cold for that - but I will be out and about celebrating! I get made fun of by all the bartenders I encounter though: Mr. J will get guiness or jameson shots, while I stick to my beloved red wine. Hey, I'm an Italian girl, what do you want from me?? :)
What are your plans for tonight?
We're heading out for a bit, but nothing like last year. Enjoying an easy celebration with friends and family! :) xoxoxox.

Great post! Happy St. Patrick's Day!

We are actually going to see the Celtics play tonight! :-) I can't wait! We'll be heading to Boston soon to enjoy some pre-game drinking!

I'll take that entire bottle of Baileys, thank you very much!!! :)

I was supposed to bring brownies to work today for a St Patrick's Day potluck. Well, being that I was so irresponsible and went to the movies last night to see Avatar with captions... I was too tired. So on the way home I bought little brownie bites from the grocery store... and then when we got home, we put vanilla frosting on top and sprinkled with green sparklies. Think they will be able to tell they're not homemade???

I'm wearing green today even though I am not Irish. Not a drinker, so maybe I'll just poor myself a nice icy diet coke.

Happy St. Patricks day!! I am not wearing green only because the only thing green I have is too casual for work...and I am not a big drinker so I probably won't be drinking anything...LOL

I'm wearing green! I even pulled out my green boots! And heading out for a green beer after work. Although, I admit, St. Paddy's was a bit more eventful when I was a bit younger. It's still fun, though! Boston looks like a great time!

I totally forgot that it was St. Paddy's Day - I usually make corned beef and cabbage. I didn't wear green today either - but my eyes are a right lovely shade of green, does that count?

Board meeting on St Patty's day so no delightful green drinks... but I did wear green (even green undies!) and had the most delicious corned beef hash, cabbage and potato soup ever!

Now I'm in the mood for Baileys. LOL

Sorry I've been a stranger. I've had a week!

I didn't have to wear scrubs to school on Wed because it was our exam day. So, I wore a forest green Champion t-shirt in all my Irish friends honor. LOL
